Pete Vercillo


SUNY Morrisville Fame to Pete Vercillo

Popular, former North High athlete, Pete Vercillo (’51) was inducted to the SUNY Morrisville Sports Wall of Fame, Class of 2005, on May 6, 2005.

            A tenacious lineman, Pete played in every game during his two years (’51 –’52) at Morrisville, on both the offensive and defensive teams. He was a key factor on the 1952 undefeated, championship Morrisville team.       

            Pete has coached football for nearly forty (40) years; twenty have been at CBA where he continues to serve as the defensive coach and strategist. Pete was awarded the coveted Purple & Gold Award in recognition of his contribution to C.B.A. athletics. 

Prior coaching stints include football coach at Bishop Grimes High School and coach of the 1959 St. Peter’s National Championship Pop Warner team.

Pete’s selection places him in the company of other Windy Hill standouts who were inducted to the Wall of Fame in prior years.  They are:

Conrad Mirizio: Class of 1997, Football – Basketball- Baseball 1949 –1950

Dodge Monteleone: Class of 1997, Football 1950 –1951

Bob Schenkenberger: Class of 1998, Football – Baseball 1953 - 1955

Tony Simone: Class of 2000, Football 1948 - 1950

            Windy Hillers are pleased to congratulate Pete and his family on this special award.

Proudly, we also acknowledge Conrad, Dodge, Bob and Tony on their prior induction and offer congratulations to each of them and their families.
