The North Side Tigers

Before there was organized  Little League and Babe Ruth Leagues there was the City Recreation Kiwanis League and our Field of Dreams were the City's Sandlots and Parks.

The Northside Tigers Baseball Teams provided a unifying experience for youngsters eager to play and to practice long and hard to become winners.  The fundamentals of playing and understanding good baseball were taught and stressed by Coach Ernie Palma.  The graduates of this program were numerous.  Many went on to play prominent roles in the successes of local public and parochial high school teams. North High School was a major benefactor of the Tiger program.

Within a four year existence, the Northside Tigers won three City Championships; 1947, 1948, 1950 and a 1949 All Star State Championship.
